Every golfer loves to walk out onto a spotless, rolling green. Its paradise! If you’re an avid golfer, you’ll know the frustration that comes from a poorly attended, or pock-marked, green. Fixing these yourself is easy, and made even easier when you have the right tools from The Lucky Golfer.
Here are some of our best techniques that means fast green recovery; a smoother surface for your winning putt to the cup; and a technique that respects the course, and other players:
-
Find your ball mark: hopefully its closer to the pin than what ours typically are!
-
This one is key: insert the prongs of the divot tool at the edge of the mark at roughly a 45° angle, not straight down.
- Push the handle forward to nudge the surrounding turf inward toward the centre of the mark. Then work around the perimeter, repeating that inward push until the depression is filled.
-
Do not lift upward. Lifting the prongs tears the roots and makes recovery of the grass slower.
-
Level the surface by gently tamping with your putter for a smooth, putt-ready finish.
